Australia’s Best Job Sites

Recently I we where asked by a reader what we thought are the best Jobs Sites for those looking for work in Australia. Therefore we  have compiled a list of the best,as the list of jobs sites in Australia is extensive and this  is no easy feat. To be fair we have categorized them by type, Australia Wide, Local and Specialist. We chose the sites based upon their ease to use, contact with employer, results and features. Let’s take a look.

Best Australia Wide Job Site - SEEK

No surprises here, SEEK is a Job Site that has reached “household  name”  status with the Australian Public. The main reason we chose SEEK was due to the fact that most employers use it and it is easy to use. However it does have some downfalls. The application process is non-communicative, the jobs are often outdated and since you can’t  contact the employer you can’t follow up on your application (unless they put there details onto the advert. For advertisers it is also a we bit expensive compared with competitors, however they do hold a massive market share so you really don’t have a lot of choice.

Best Community/Local Job Site - Sunshine Coast Jobs (with a “z”)

I was actually quite surprised with this website as local community based Job Sites have a real problem in a highly competitive  industry. Sunshine Coast Jobs sets it’s self apart from  the others by offering a direct contact with the employer, it’s easy to use and you can search for a particular skill in an advert. Best of all it’s free to everyone. The website caters for jobs throughout the entire Sunshine Coast QLD region, and you can even pinpoint which area like “Maroochydore”. The website is undergoing a makeover at the moment (Aug 09) but should be back up and running by the end of September 09. I would use a community job site over a national job site anytime, they are far more personalized approach to job searching and you will find you have greater success at finding employment.

Best Specialist Job Site - Gurus IT Jobs

Personally I have been using this site since I began working in IT years ago. I have had  great success obtaining work with this Job Site due partly to the fact that is just for IT people and IT employers. The site works on the simple notion that employers will seek employees from a website that is just for their industry. Straight forward, the site is easy to use is always full of Jobs. Take a look.
