Electricity and Gas
You can make some big savings here. Simple ways without changing power supplier:

- Turn off the computers hen not using them,
- Reduce the use of Aircon and Heaters,
- Turn everything off at the powerpoint,
- Install energy reducing light bulbs.

Home Loan interest rates are very low at the moment but that doesn’t make a difference if you fixed near 10%. First thing, if you are having trouble making your mortgage repayments without delay advise your bank. They don’t want you to go bankrupt and will assist, however don’t leave it too late. If you are lucky to be on a variable rate, contact your bank to make sure you are paying the minimun repayments. When you are employed again then go back to your normal repayment system. You can also ask your bank to draw on your redraw facility to make repayments, they will most likely suggest this anyway.

Ask yourself “do I need it” or is it “a want”. When you are unemployed and strapped for cash the “wants” need to be put under the microscope. You will be surprised how much money you can save if you just ask youself this simple question: Do I really need this?
Example: Do I need a new Playstation game? No you don’t, it’s not essential.
